Heinkel He 111H-3 Hjorthol, Velledalen Møre og Romsdal

8./III./KG 26 28.04 1940

Shot down by Skua of 803 Sqdn FAA (Lt.W.P. Lucy and Sub Lt.G.W. Brockensha) and made a forced landing on a field at Hjorthol south of Sykkylven. The Heinkel cut down some telephone poles before it stopped in a stone fence and burned out. Uffz.Hans Liesske and Uffz.Hans Göhringer became PoW's. Obgefr.Friedrich Wilms and Gefr.Adolf Averkamp were both killed in the air battle.

Two more Heinkel's were shot down during this attack by Skuas of 800 and 803 Sqdn:

Feldw.Karl Pflüger and his crew were killed when their aircraft crashed into the sea at Kjørsvika.

St.Kptn. Hptm.Freiherr Eberhard Schnorr von Carolsfeld made a forced landing in the Molde fjord.
